Unfortunatly neither me or my excel will be ready for the april khana, but will be coming out for a look and to help out if need be. Cant wait to actually get behind the wheel again.........
As long as it's running, I'd just bring it out for a play, even if you've got a full interior and road tyres. Sure, you might not set any records, but it's better than sitting on the sidelines.
havent got my licence renewed, and the cars pretty much ready just gotta weld up the mounts for the seats and put the harness in and an extinguisher. its just finding the time haha, working for wanneroo mitsubishi selling cars so long hours. if i pull my finger out i will bring her down... very poor excuse haha
Haha that does sound like a good option, only problem being the only evo we have is sold and gettin deliverd tomorow haha. there goes that idea haha. but yer if i get some time i will redomy licence. very poor excuse i know hahaha.
Well, I had a hell of a day. Kudos to Wayne for getting stuck right in and getting as many runs in as possible. Having 5 tests running at the same time was sweet.
I think we completely shagged a pair of front tyres - not surprising given the knee trembling levels of power the Hyundai puts out I suppose. Well that and the car doing 57 runs over the course of the day.
Oh, and can I put in a recommendation for the combination of Little Caesar's pizza shop in Mundaring and the 24 hour car wash across the road? While you're waiting for your pizza, duck across the road and get busy with the high pressure hose. Sorted!
Beats doing it on your front lawn at 9pm on a sunday night, that's for sure.
was it a good event? i was spewin i didnt even make it down for a look, just had to much shit on. hopefully have everything sorted for the next one, im dieing to get out there...
The X3 is the newer body shape (the rounder one). Early ones came with a single cam (but 12V) version of Hyundai's own engine (the Alpha). Later ones (post '98) had a twin cam version of that engine.
The older X2 Excel had a 1.5l Mitsubishi (4g15) engine, in an single overhead cam.
Power outputs aren't that much different. The 4g15 puts out 62kw, single cam alpha 66kw, and the twin cam alpha 74kw.
For the past few seasons we've been running an X2, but at the start of the year we bought an X3 twin cam at a damaged vehicle auction. They're not really much different to be honest - the new car is easier to drive and feels more solid, but that's probably down to it being newer and having less kays on it. (Our X2 has 195,000km whereas the X3 has ~80,000km from memory)

Surely the easy option is just to borrow an Evo for the weekend, and stop off at a carwash on the way home.
If you haven't got your license renewal through, I'm happy to drive it in the event for you.
