Who do you think has the quickest car in a straight line out of the usual guys who come out to events?
Say over 200m or 400m on gravel in a straight line, suppose we aren't allowed to run a straight over 200m, so maybe a stage 100m then tight hairpin, then 100m stop!
I reckon Travis' or Raz's GTti Charades would be quick, also Brians MX6, a light twincam excel maybe,
anything rwd would put the power down well, Keil's commodore/lexen used to be quick, Daymons T18 goes pretty well.
Any I've forgotten?
Lantra
V6 Corona
Escort
Wavey.
Interesting question. I'd
Interesting question. I'd be curious to see.
Could be a good test for the new timing equipment on the autocross...
We could have our own whoop
We could have our own whoop ass wednesday style drag at beverley. Start at the containers and stop maybe the first test on the flats then youve got until the last test to stop!!!! Dont need anything special for it......
It will be a bit unfair. The
It will be a bit unfair. The power of the mighty Lantra would overwhelm the masses and sad faces will seen for miles.......he he he he
Overwhelming power, yes.
Overwhelming power, yes. For the first half of the course at least. :)
it would be interesting to
it would be interesting to see who's car is the quickest in a sraight line.
So, who's got the best power
So, who's got the best power to weight ratio?
Our Excel comes standard with 74kw, and weighed 940kg. I reckon we've probably added about 6kw, and on the weighbridge at the Motorplex it came in at 870kg from memory.
Standard kg/kw: 12.7
Now: 10.8
Interestingly: http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp
A standard twincam X3 does pretty much dead on 10s 0-100km/h.
Standard: Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 99
Weight without Driver (KG) : 940
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 107.01
0 - 60 (Secs) : 9.73
0 - 100 (Secs) : 31.44
60 - 100 (Secs) : 21.71
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 18.23
Currently: Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 107
Weight without Driver (KG) : 870
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 124.96
0 - 60 (Secs) : 8.46
0 - 100 (Secs) : 25.43
60 - 100 (Secs) : 16.98
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.95
Anyone care to post their stats?
ps. The fireball mentioned above is for sale too!
it's not about the car -
it's not about the car - it's about the driver.....so clearly I am the winner !!!
It's ok guys! She was at
It's ok guys!
She was at home sick today. A little too much time and a little too much cough syrup methinks.
Obviously off with the fairies....
Honey, you should stick to reading "How to swap GM LS-Series Engines" handbooks. Put the bottle of Demazin down and back away slowly.

If only there was an airport
If only there was an airport runway near the track...
But there is. Doesnt
But there is. Doesnt beverley have an airfield. Pretty sure there is a dirt one on the road in??
That was sort of my point.

More to the point - who don't we let see us do it? :)
MAn im so dense. I thought
MAn im so dense. I thought you were actually oblivious to the drive into Bormsa. Id say Beverely glider club or someone in the aviation part of town. Maybe ask at that dome looking servo...... I reckon we should do a ken Block style video and do skids around the planes up there!!!!
im keen for plane
im keen for plane proximity!! after all that fence proximity on the weekend hey tim! ;)
I can't help but think the
I can't help but think the glider club would be ... against the idea of us doing skids around their planes. :)
why dont we use the straight
why dont we use the straight of the autocross track at bormsa. there are already tyres in between the two 'strips', just putting that out there....
i was also thinking if we
i was also thinking if we can pass scrutineering that maybe we could all go down one whoopass wed and do the actual drags.... its $45

Could always take our time
Could always take our time leaving after the next round at beverely. If the cars are still going. I dont think i would handle the shame of lining up for a run down the qtr at kwinana in my excel. Or the fact it will take 10 mins to complete my run!!!!!
i think you might be
i think you might be surprised at how quick a light 4 banger is..... but i guess it wouldnt compare to the mighty RB30.... :)
